Abstract

The need for innovative mathematics learning media utilizing technology, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI), to adapt the learning process to the diverse characteristics of students is the fundamental issue of this research. The purpose of this research is to identify the need for developing AI-based adaptive mathematics learning media from the perspective of students and teachers. The research used a quantitative descriptive approach with a population of students and teachers in one school. The sample consisted of 50 students and 3 mathematics teachers selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data collection was conducted through a questionnaire, then analyzed using descriptive statistics in the form of average values and standard deviations. The results show that students' needs for AI-based learning media are in the high category (mean = 4.23; SD = 0.51), while teachers' needs are in the very high category (mean = 4.37; SD = 0.46). The most needed features include automatic feedback, difficulty adjustment, and support for differentiated learning. The novelty of this research lies in the emphasis on the adaptive learning approach that is oriented towards the real needs of users in mathematics learning. The implications of the research show that the development of AI-based media needs to emphasize adaptive functions, accompanied by increasing teacher competency and support for technological facilities so that its implementation can run optimally and sustainably.
