Abstract

This research is motivated by the low Science Process Skills (SPS) of elementary school students, caused by the still-verbal learning process and the lack of use of concrete media in the human locomotor system. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effectiveness of implementing STEAM-based media in improving SPS in sixth-grade elementary school students. The method used was quantitative with a pre-experimental one-group pretest-post-test design. The study sample included 31 students at SDN 148 Pekanbaru, selected through total sampling. Data were collected using test instruments and observation sheets, then analyzed using paired sample t-tests and N-Gain calculations. The results showed a significant improvement in learning outcomes, with the average score increasing from 70.97 to 88.71. The N-Gain score of 0.69 placed this improvement in the moderate category. The main conclusion of this study is that the use of STEAM-based media can effectively improve SPS and students' conceptual understanding of the human locomotor system. The implication is that a concrete media-based STEAM approach can be an alternative strategy for educators to create a more active, exploratory, and meaningful science learning environment in elementary schools
