Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of learning motivation on the academic achievement of fifth-grade students at SDS Parulian. Learning motivation is an important internal factor that drives students to make efforts, persist, and complete academic tasks. Meanwhile, academic achievement reflects the extent to which students meet learning objectives. The study uses a quantitative approach with survey methods and simple linear regression analysis. The research subjects consisted of 30 fifth-grade students. Instruments included a learning motivation questionnaire and documentation of academic scores. Data analysis involved validity and reliability tests, normality tests, regression analysis, and paired sample t-tests. The results showed that the average learning motivation score was 83.73 (categorized as high), while the average academic achievement score was 66.61. The regression test revealed a positive and significant effect of learning motivation on academic achievement, with a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05) and a regression coefficient of 1.105. This indicates that a one-point increase in learning motivation results in a 1.105-point increase in academic achievement. The correlation coefficient of 0.955 indicates a very strong relationship. Additionally, the paired t-test showed a significant difference between learning motivation and academic achievement (t = 35.548; significance = 0.000). In conclusion, learning motivation plays a crucial role in determining students’ academic success. Therefore, schools, teachers, and parents are encouraged to create a supportive learning environment and foster motivation continuously
