ANALYSIS OF WATER DISCHARGE IN THE WATERSHED OF SUNGAI KELIK VILLAGE

Rivers are a vital natural resource for humans and the environment. One of the factors affecting a region's ability to absorb water is changes in land cover, water discharge, and rainfall. Sungai Kelik Village is an area that experiences annual flooding. This study aims to analyze the river discharge in Sungai Kelik Village to determine the planned flood discharge for the area using the Rational Method approach. The results of the study show an increase in the planned flood discharge between 2013 and 2023, driven by changes in land cover functions. The measured river discharge is 271.5 m³/s, and the planned flood discharge is 644.88 m³/s for 2023, indicating a potential for future flooding. Therefore, environmental conservation efforts are needed, including reducing land clearing in the area around the watershed of Sungai Kelik Village.
