PUBLICATION ETHICS

JTM; MECHANICAL ENGINEERING JOURNAL is a scientific publication containing research results in the field of mechanical engineering that have never been published. This scientific code of ethics statement is a statement of the code of ethics of all parties involved in the publication process of this scientific journal, namely managers, editors, bestari partners/reviewers, and authors. This scientific publication code of ethics statement is based on the Regulation of the Head of LIPI Number 5 of 2014 concerning the Code of Ethics for Scientific Publications. The Ethics of Scientific Publications essentially uphold three ethical values ​​in publication, including:

  1. Neutrality, namely free from conflicts of interest in managing publications;
  2. Fairness, namely granting authorship rights to those entitled as authors/writers; and
  3. Honesty, namely free from duplication, fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism (DF2P) in publications.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Chief Editor :

  1. Determine the name of the journal, scope of science, periodicity, and accreditation if necessary.
  2. Determine the membership of the editor.
  3. Define the relationship between publishers, editors, peer reviewers, and other parties.
  4. Respect confidential matters, both for contributing researchers, authors/writers, editors,and peer reviewers.
  5. Apply norms and provisions regarding intellectual property rights, especially copyright.
  6. Conduct journal policy reviews and convey them to authors/writers, editors, peer reviewers, and  readers.
  7. Create a code of conduct guide for editors and peer reviewers.
  8. Publish journals regularly.
  9. Ensure the availability of funding sources for the sustainability of journal publication.
  10. Build a network of cooperation and marketing.
  11. Improve the quality of the journal.
  12. Prepare permits and other legal aspects.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Editor

  1. The editor provides comments on the author's writing so that readers can understand what the author  wants to convey, through comments written on the manuscript and/or discussion facilities on the journal website.
  2. The editor provides comments on the author's writing in accordance with the EYD (Enhanced Spelling) language or language that is in accordance with the journal's standards.
  3. The editor strives to continuously improve the quality of publications;
  4. The editor prioritizes freedom of opinion objectively,
  5. The editor submits corrections, clarifications, withdrawals, and apologies when necessary,
  6. The editor ensures that the author's writing does not involve SARA or anything that could harm the publisher and coordinates the author's writing with the publisher's editor-in-chief if the writing is slightly controversial.
  7. The editor receives, reviews, and follows up on complaints from all parties involved in publishing the journal;
  8. The editor supports initiatives to educate researchers about publication ethics,
  9. The editor does not defend his own opinion, the author or a third party that could result in non-objective decisions,
  10. The editor encourages authors to be able to improve their writing until it is worthy of publication.
  11. The editor layouts the manuscript to be published so that it is in accordance with the journal template.
  12. The editor assists the editor in chief in finalizing a collection of manuscripts before printing and publication, especially in terms of language, format and layout.

Duties and Responsibilities of Bestari Partners

  1. Provide objective and unbiased written feedback on the scientific value and contribution of the manuscript to the development of science;
  2. Show whether the writing of the manuscript is clear, complete, and relevant, and whether the manuscript is in accordance with the scope of the journal;
  3. Do not provide criticism or comments that are personal in nature; and
  4. Maintain the confidentiality of the manuscript, by not discussing it with unrelated parties, or disclosing information contained in the manuscript to other parties.

Website Administrator Duties and Responsibilities

A Website Administrator is a person who is responsible for managing a journal website. Specifically, the scope of duties of a Website Administrator are as follows:

  1. Setting up the journal website;
  2. Configuring system options and managing user accounts;
  3. Registering editors, reviewers, and authors;
  4. Managing journal features;
  5. Viewing report statistics;
