Abstract

Community service as a manifestation of one of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education carried out by Students of the Social Welfare Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, the University of North Sumatra through Practicum II activities at Mutiara Mulia Indonesia Orphanage, aims to: (1) train students to apply science in the field of Social Welfare that has been studied in a selected practicum setting through a learning by doing a process, (2) trains students' skills in applying Social Work methods and techniques in dealing with clients, (3) trains students' skills in planning and managing institutions, (4) so ​​that students participate in implementing social welfare discipline in development, both through institutional and community approaches and can establish relationships with institutions, both government and social welfare service institutions. The practitioner applies the problem-solving method to the group intervention unit at the mezzo intervention level according to Kirst-Ashman (in Adi, 2013) using the Social Group Work Worker Method through the implementation of the Mini Project "Growing Social Skills in Mutiara Mulia Indonesia Orphanage Children Through Games Traditional” by using the method of stages of intervention practice to solve problems faced by the children of the Mutiara Mulia Indonesia Orphanage according to Zastrow (in Suharto, 2007), namely: Intake Case Stage, Assessment and Intervention Planning Stage, Member Selection Stage, Stage Group Development, Evaluation and Termination Phase.
