Abstract

This study is motivated by the low productivity of marginal land, which requires a quantitative approach in managing horticultural enterprises. The research aims to formulate and analyze an economic mathematical model through cost functions, revenue functions, and Break Even Point (BEP) analysis. The model is constructed based on fixed cost and variable cost components within the Total Cost (TC) function, as well as the Total Revenue (TR) function expressed as the product of price and output quantity. The object of this study is a horticultural enterprise managed by the Putra Mandiri Farmer Group in Tempurukan Village, Muara Pawan District, Ketapang Regency. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation of production costs, and analyzed using a descriptive quantitative approach based on economic mathematical formulas. The results show that the total production cost is IDR 26,500,000 and total revenue is IDR 40,000,000 at an output level of 4,000 kg, resulting in a profit of IDR 13,500,000 per planting season. The model yields a production BEP of 2,650 kg and a price BEP of IDR 6,625/kg, both lower than the actual production and selling price. This study confirms that an economic mathematical model can serve as an analytical tool to determine feasibility and efficiency in horticultural management on marginal land and to support quantitative decision-making.
